2011 Quilt Judge
Jeannie Spears

Jeannie Spears has been an NQA Certified Judge since 1980, and has judged quilt events around the world and across the country. She has been an active member of the Colorado Quilt Council's Competition Committee, judging county and state fairs and guild competitions, since moving to Colorado from Minnesota in 1991. She has taught many classes and workshops on how to evaluate quilts for quilters and potential judges, including 3-day courses in New Zealand and Australia. She has also written a workbook on judging techniques called The Challenge of Judging, and other books and articles.
She was Senior Features Editor of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine when she retired at the end of 1999, and she and her husband run Soft Fabric Photos, a company that prints photos on fabric for quilters.

2011 Clothing and Accessories Judge
Pat Welch

Pat Welch has a degree from Iowa State University and an advanced degree in clothing design from the Art Institute of Chicago. She was active in a Boulder Colorado design shop for 15 years, and director of education for Bernina of America Denver area. She designed for a western wear firm, has taught High School as well as Adult Education. Pat has been a national educator for Sulky of America for the last 17 years combining her love of travel with her love of teaching creative clothing and fiber arts, traveling all over the U.S. and Canada. She is president of Colorado Creations which produces her pattern line.

2011 Doll Judge
Lauren Vlcek

Lauren Vlcek is an accomplished artist and doll maker. She has been creating and selling works of art for over fifteen years. She has displayed her pieces in art shows, doll challenges, magazine and book covers and on television. She is a co-author of the book, Fabric Embellishing, Basics and Beyond. For over ten years, Lauren has taught art classes in her home studio specializing in figurative art and embellishment. Her art work is a pathway of expression for her life's experiences, challenges and changes.
