2010 Clothing and Accessories Judge
Dana Lacy Chapman, Ph.D.

Biography Dana’s, life-long interest in sewing brought her into the faculty at The University of Akron in Ohio where she taught Clothing Construction, Tailoring, Textiles and various Fashion courses for 10 years. During this time, she earned her Ph.D. in Clothing and Textiles at The Ohio State University. Wearable Art pieces that Dana created have received national recognition at shows such as the International Quilt Festivals in Houston, Mid-Atlantic Wearable Art Festivals, Pacific International Quilt Festivals, and the Hobbs Fashion Shows at the American Quilters Society Contest and Shows in Paducah, KY. There have been many ribbons along the way. She has twice been selected as a designer for the Bernina Fashion Shows. Her years as a professor honed her skills as a presenter, a teacher, and as a skilled evaluator. In addition to producing for competition, Dana has judged the apparel category at the International Quilt Festival. She has also taught classes on various aspects of wearable art around the United States. She also is well received as a lecturer on both her quilts and her wearable art. Dolls Judge
Andra Hendrie

I started loving dolls in the 80’s & still do. I took classes to learn everything I could. Then I started making dolls & entering doll shows which was very exciting when I got blue ribbons for several entries over the years. I also wanted to be a certified doll maker & restorer so I pursued that also.
I have taught doll making classes from the bodies out of different materials, like cloth, leather, porcelain ,composition etc. I have purchased a lot of molds & do repair for people as well. It is fun to create one of a kind dolls. I took molds & changed the features to look like character dolls such as Rip Van Winkle. Mother Goose, a mountain man, A cotton picker, a Gypsy. sleeping beauty & the prince & others. It comes natural for me to be creative because I also am an artist with painting & glass.
When I restore dolls I also have made the outfits as well. Some have been badly abused & even gone through a fire. I have dolls from all over the world when I traveled, but my favorite dolls are the artistic ones I have created & the antique dolls. I will always have a heart for dolls & dressing them up as well.
I enjoy seeing others get to create & make dolls, It brings out the little girl in all of us. I have a pretty big collection & love sharing it with others.
