Butterfly Rings Tied for 3rd Place, Mixed Technique Patricia Mahoney, Tecumseh, MI "Butterfly Rings" was made with only three templates for the applique and the Borderie Perse for the butterflies. I thought of a new technique for quilting and beading at the same time, by backstitching each individual bead for strength. The beaded rings looks like chicken wire, I call them butterfly rings instead of a butterfly cage, (I thought it sounded better). This is the first quilt I have made since my eye surgeries and I am so pleased with the way I can see color. The entire quilt is hand stitched. |
