I´ve made quilted book covers for three years. My starting point for developing the ideas came from Linda Johansen´s fabric covered bowls and boxes, but beyond the edge finishing, the techniques used are mine, created through much trial and error. To bend the heavy-weight interfacing to my will, I carefully "score" the product with stitching. I also work with what I call an "open-face quilt sandwich" - two layers instead of three. I interface all the interior sleeves for body and carefully and repeatedly edge stitch to finish the covers.
